Media Presentation #3 - Forecasting The Future

The future of internet communication is super exciting because it will help people all over the world connect faster and easier than ever before. With better technology like faster internet and cool new tools, we can talk to anyone, anywhere, no matter what language they speak. This means more sharing of ideas, cultures across countries. It can also help with education and solving global problems together. Overall, it’ll bring people closer and make the world feel a lot smaller in a good way.

Advances in Communication

Networks like 5G are already around, so what can be added to 5G to make it even better in the future? To make 5G better in the future, there may need to be more towers built so it works everywhere, even in the countryside. I know for me, Apple is already using 5G, but even in certain spots, my data runs slow. Especially going through the country or places where there are a lot of trees. How in the future will that not be a problem anymore? Where data never slows down and there are no dead spots? The networks behind it also need upgrades so everything runs faster and smoother. It would help if 5G used less energy, too, so it’s cheaper and better for the planet. As phones and other devices get better at using 5G, things will work even faster. I also could only imagine what could be created with 5G and AI working hand in hand. Maybe all devices will be able to have high-speed internet, where you won't even need a phone anymore, and you will be able to just talk to your car, and it give you directions instead of having to connect your phone to your car.

There is also Starlink. Starlink is a satellite internet service created by SpaceX that aims to give fast, reliable internet to people in areas where regular internet isn’t available, like in rural or remote places. Instead of using traditional cables or towers, Starlink uses a network of small satellites in space to send internet signals directly to dishes on the ground. This makes it possible for people to get online even if they live far from city infrastructure, helping to bridge the digital divide. How does something like this become more reliable and better? Well, right now it isn't worldwide, so definitely getting this device to the more rural areas will be key to connecting them to the internet. By launching more satallites there may be better coverage and faster internet to those who don't have access to it.

Now why do I talk about these too, well what if 5G is no longer needed at all, Apple is already talking about partnering with Starlink. Sending a text from your phone or even your watch won't have geographical limits in the future. Maybe all devices could be connected to satellites and no need for regular networks like 5G.

AI In The Future

AI right now is advancing so fast with the introduce to snapchat AI bot and with ChatGBT now. What could change in AI in the future. To me I am thinking someone will start to add more life like features to AI. Maybe starting with more personal attributes where they are actually having feelings to maybe even having the sensory feelings. Before typing I didn't look to see if this was already in the works and it is.
According to Pluralsight, "Imagine conversing seamlessly with a digital AI avatar that responds instantly with visual and auditory feedback (and all you have to do is have your webcam on). Building on our current AI capabilities of processing audio, visual, and text inputs, these advanced multimodal (and perhaps omnimodal) avatars will represent a pinnacle of efficiency."

An omnimodal AI is a super smart kind of AI that can use all five senses — sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch — just like humans do. Right now,  they say they already have the technology for each of these senses, like electronic noses, tongues, and skin, but no one has put them all together yet. They want this AI to be able to do amazing things — like smell diseases such as cancer, taste-test food and medicine, or feel objects to identify them. It could also hear tiny changes in someone’s voice to detect health problems or watch video footage better than a security guard. Combining all five senses would let AI understand the world in a deeper way, helping in areas like medicine, food, safety, and more.

I think this design of AI was only the way anyone could see going to, trying to make AI robots more humanly built. Many people are already worried of robots taking over jobs today and so what ways would these engineers or scientist continue to try and make AI better for the future, or try to fix problems in today's world. I think this is a crazy idea because to me there is no stopping bar for AI. It can eventually be the smartest technology in the future.

Conclusion

The future of communication and AI is moving fast and becoming more exciting every day. With tech like 5G and Starlink, people will be able to connect from almost anywhere, even in rural areas, and devices may one day not need cell service at all. AI is also advancing quickly, and in the future, it could have senses like humans—seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching—which could help with things like medicine, safety, and everyday life. While there are some concerns about jobs and control, this technology has the potential to make life easier and more connected for everyone.
